picture--July 12--2 weeks!

I didn't post last weekend, so this one covers 2 weeks.  We were lucky enough to have Kirk's parents, Connor and Grandpa Morris come visit.  We had a great time going to the park, visiting the farmer's market, riding the carousel, seeing Kirk's office, eating lots of meals together and getting donuts.  A few things that stand out to me:

  • The first day that Great-grandpa got here, we went to the park.  My kids and Jex were sitting on a towel eating a snack.  He got up (he's 90!) and went and kneeled down by the kids.  He tried to get the babies to smile and the others to talk to him.
  • He told us that Cami was so pretty and would look good in any set of clothes
  • One time when Cade and Cami were being loud, he picked them up and sat them on the couch.  he told them they had to be quiet while he counted to 10 and then he would get them a prize.  They sat there and stared at him.  The next day we went to the farmer's market and he gave me $5 for each of them.  I let them pick out different fruit to buy.
  • Grandpa (Kirk's dad) wanted to take the kids to get donuts.  Cade and Cami were more than ok with this, but they wanted to go with Grandma and Grandpa.  I was not invited.
  • Lisa spent a bunch of time working on our sprinkler system.  It hasn't worked great since we moved in and is (was) really unreliable.  She replaced the valve system.  Kirk helped a little, but she mostly did it while he was at work.  Now it is awesome!
  • Right after she was done with the sprinklers and thought it was fine, we turned on the sprinklers in the backyard.  We got spray bottles and had a little water fight with Cade, Cami, Grandma, Grandpa and I.  Connor even got a little wet.  It was fun and felt great on a hot day.
  • Saturday morning the guys went golfing.  Cade got to go and was really excited.  Cami stayed home with me.  Lisa needed to go get something from Home Depot, so we took Cami and built their kid project for the month.  I was glad we could do something fun with Cami while Cade was gone golfing.  Connor, Grandpa and Cade came home after 9 holes.  Tom sharpened all of my kitchen knives and then mowed our lawn.
  • Everyone had fun watching Ellie.  She was just starting to move from laying to sitting and reaching really far to get stuff.  A few days after they left, she started crawling.
  • For the 4th of July, Kirk and I were able to go for a bike ride.  It was really fun.  We also played in the river and had a bbq at Scott's house.
This past week did not go as we had planned.  Monday was the 4th.  Tuesday morning Lisa and Connor left early.  Kirk and Melissa were off early and we all went swimming at Dar's pool.  It was fun for Kirk to see the kids swim.  Thursday morning Kirk and Scott were supposed to leave for a 2 night backpacking trip.  The weather looked pretty bad though--rain, thunder and lightening for most of the time they would be gone.  They ended up going mountain biking on Thursday and fishing on Friday.  Saturday morning Kirk and I got up at 4:30 and left by 5:15 to go fishing.  Melissa took care of the kids until about 9:30 and then took them over to Scott's until we got back at noon.  It was fun to get out with Kirk.  I haven't fished much in the last year.  That evening we went out to Chico's tacos.  Cami wouldn't eat her food until we were all done and cleaning up  and then she decided to eat and eat and eat.  She got black beans all over her face and arms.  It was pretty funny.
We had a big windstorm on Thursday evening.  Our trees lost a few 4-foot long branches and lots of smaller ones.  Cade and I went out on Saturday to clean up the branches.  We filled our green-waste can over half way.  It was a lot of stuff.

This week Cade has started swimming lessons.  Melissa is off Wednesday and we plan on going hiking up in the pretty mountains somewhere (as opposed to Tri-city "mountains.")  Kirk is off Thursday.  Friday after work we are leaving for Spokane for the weekend to visit some old dental school friends.  I love how we stay busy in the summer and go do things like that.
Cami wanted 3 flowers in her hair

Cade was vacuuming and Ellie wanted to help.  He is a good brother
