I wrote this a long time ago but am just getting around to posting it :)
We have had some special visitors this week. My parents and Melissa drove up from Utah to spend their spring break with us. They arrived on Saturday afternoon, about an hour before we got home from our Dry Falls Lake trip. We have had a lot of fun with them here. Cade and Cami have loved the constant playmates and I have loved having people to talk to and hang out with.
Sunday was Easter and we had a little egg hunt in the morning. We spent most of the day watching conference and eating. Scott and Kara came over for dinner with us. My dad downloaded Living Books onto his IPad. It is a fun little Arthur story where you can touch objects on the pages and random things happen. Both of my kids asked for it over and over. Cami's favorite part was when you touch one girl and she sings "I don't have any homework" a few times and then falls off the bed. She touched that on over and over and sang it with her.
Monday morning we went to Costco, the pet store and to get frozen yogurt. Cade and Cami loved their pink ice cream. We went for a walk in the afternoon and then made pizza on the grill--a first for me. It was really yummy and we will be doing it again! Then we watched the NCAA basketball game and hung out that evening.
Tuesday morning we took a quick trip to Walmart and also got some donuts--a tradition whenever they come visit. My dad helped us fix a chair and my mom swept and mopped the floor and we got the laundry done in the afternoon. It was great to have some help! I got some food ready in the afternoon while my parents too the kids to the park. We had Dar, Gary and Amber over for dinner that night and had a yummy taco salad.
Wednesday we left early and headed to Camp Zarahemla. We had originally planned to spend the night but changed to a day trip because Cami had a cold and wasn't sleeping well. Melissa had a great time playing with the kids in the back seat the whole way there. My dad took over on the way home and I think they both had fun sitting there. We stopped at the waterfall overlook and then checked into our cabin. It was a little damp and chilly up there, but it was pretty! It is so nice to get out in the mountains. We took a little hike, had lunch and threw rocks in the lake. We also built a fire and roasted marshmallows. Cade had a blast picking up more and more sticks for Grandpa to throw on the fire. Cami was a bit nervous around the fire and did not like the smoke. Luckily she took a short nap and ended up missing most of the fire. Cade and Cami also loved performing on the "stage" and singing songs to everyone. They got all of us to perform as well. We got a little rain too and played cards inside. After eating dinner, we packed up and headed home. We got home about 8:20 and Cade had fallen asleep on the way. I thought it was funny because as I unbuckled him and carried him upstairs to bed he never even moved. He was so worn out! I think we all enjoyed that little trip.
Thursday morning we went to Pasco to see some big farm and construction tractors. We stopped at a park to play on the way home and spent most of the day at home. My dad decided to fix a drawer we had. Cade had to help. He made sure to wear his hard hat and construction vest and get out his tools that matched what my dad was using. They were really cute together. My parents took Cade and Cami out to Burger King for dinner and then put them to bed for me so Kirk and I could go out to dinner. Kirk has been working a lot this week and it was nice to take a little break.
They packed up and left early Friday morning. It was a fun week. We always love when they come! Grandma and Grandpa read lots of stories, colored pictures, went for walks, and played with toys. I don't know what they do at home without 2 little friends to keep them busy!
