It's official, we're moving to Washington state.
Kirk is graduating for the last time at the end of June. We have been talking about this moving for years. Where will we go after school? Now we know. We are heading to the Tri-cities area of Washington. Kirk will be working for a small practice called Dentistry for Kids. We are excited about the move. Kirk's brother lives there and so does one of my aunts with her family. We are really exicted to have family nearby. One crazy thing is that I have never been there before! Kirk has been once, for his interview, but that is all.
How did we find these guys? We followed a method that others have done and recommended. We picked out places we would like to live and made a list of all of the pediatric dentists there. We sent copies of Kirk's resume and a cover letter introducing him to each of them, hoping for responses. We ended up sending about 65 letters out to dentists in certain cities in Montana, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and New Mexico. We heard back from 12-15 of them. Some said they didn't need help but told us of friends who did. Some got back to us to late. Kirk took a trip up to Washington at the end of our Christmas break and met with 3 different practices up there. We all drove out to Santa Fe, New Mexico in January to meet with 3 more practices. All 6 of them were great places and needed help. Kirk liked Dentistry for Kids in Kennewick, WA the best. He said that he really thinks he'll get along with the 2 dentists there. They seem very honest and open and want to do what's best for us as well as for the practice. I've never met them, but Kirk is very impressed and we think that it will be a good situation.
The best part? Kirk will be working an average of 4 days a week! I'm excited about that. It will be a rotating schedule where he works 5 days one week, 4 days one week and 3 one week. On his 3-day weeks, he has Thursday and Friday off, so basically it is a 4 day weekend every 3rd week. It will give us lots of time to go play and explore the area.
So we're leaving Mississippi at the end of June, taking a month off to visit family in Minnesota and Utah and then heading to Washington to start work the beginnning of August. If you're ever in the area or want to make a trip up there, we'd love to see you!

Congrats! That's so exciting to finally have a REAL job! Hooray! Can't wait to tell Jer.
Congrats! I read your email the other day, but didn't reply. I bet it's so nice to know where you are going and have a plan! And it's so fun that you'll have family close! If you need a place to stop for any reason on your way to Utah/Minnesota, let us know! We'll be here!
We've definitely been wondering where you four were off to! So happy for you! Do you know when you'll be in Utah? We'll be there during June--if it overlaps, we'd love to say hi and meet Cade and Cami!
Congrats. We are so happy for you. Such great and exciting things for you. We wish you all the best and miss you.
Congrats! You'll have a wonderful adventure up there. We are finding more and more reasons to visit Washington and the tri-cities. Best of luck with your new life up there. I'm sure you'll love it.
