A couple of weeks ago Kirk had a Tuesday off and we took Cade and Cami out fishing to the Tucannon River. It is about 2 1/2 hours away in the Blue Mountains and a new place for us to go. Kirk started out fishing with Cade on his back. He said he caught a ton of fish, most of them under 6". He gave me the rod and stayed with the kids and told me to try upstream a bit. I didn't catch anything. The river was hard to get through and it was really fast with lots of trees in the way. I went back to where Kirk was and he let me fish a spot near where they were. I caught about a dozen fish right away. They were small, but it was fun. We tried one other lake too and Kirk caught a few more there. I enjoyed sitting with Cami and just watching him this time. We watched 2 otters swim around the lake and a bald eagle was sitting in a tree just across from us the entire time. It was a fun, relaxing trip.

| The black spot in the top of the tall dead tree is a bald eagle. Seriously. |
We also went out to the Yakima river, right here in Richland. Cade was asking me if we could go fishing and I asked Kirk if there was somewhere close we could try. He had floated this area a couple of times, but the water is now lower and he wasn't sure what to expect. But, we pulled out the old spinning rods and a jig and tried it out. It was a warm day, but we were plenty cool in the water. Kirk had Cami on his back for a while and Cade was standing in the river up to his waist next to his daddy. I caught a couple of little small-mouth bass and Kirk caught one and then he took the kids to the edge to play in the water. They thought it was the best day ever. We took turns fishing and Kirk ended up with one big one we took pictures of. It was a fun morning. We ended up with about a dozen fish in 2 hours.
