Cade is 3!

Cade was so excited for his birthday.  He turned 3 on the 21st.  I decorated with lots of blue balloons and blue streamers over night and he was pretty happy when he saw it in the morning.  We had German pancakes for breakfast.
The mower truck came and Cade said "they knowed it was my birthday and they came!"  We went swimming in the morning and then played at home in the afternoon.  Kirk got home early from work and we had pizza and sugar bugs (cinnamon sticks) for dinner.  Scott, Kara, Dar, Gary and Amber all came over for cake and ice cream and Cade got to open a few presents.  He had already received a bike, a battery-powered leaf blower, and a big Thomas the train extension track before his birthday from us and grandparents.  Dar gave him some treats and a couple of cars and Scott and Kara brought a bubble gun and some magic pirate play dough.  He also got a new truck book and a couple of Disney movies.  What a lucky guy!

2 days later we had a construction party with his friends.  We started by giving the kids hard hats and play dough to build with.  We read Goodnight Good night Construction Site.  Then we did an obstacle course with orange cones and tape.
We had snacks and then Cade opened a couple of presents and the kids ate cupcakes.  I used mini tractors as the cupcake toppers and then they played in rice with their tractors.

We finished by building stuff with pretzels and marshmallows.  It was a fun party.  Cade was pretty nervous to have his friends come.  He ended up being really hyper and excited the whole time and loved it and keeps asking when ____ can come play again. He would love to have another birthday--maybe just everyday.

A few things about Cade
  • He is 39 inches tall and weighs 35 pounds.  How many people are taller in inches than they weight in pounds?
  • He still loves to mow the lawn and does it almost daily.  He loves his backpack blower and golf club trimmers as well.

  • He really likes tractors.  One of his favorite new games is to dig in playdough and build roads with his little tractors.  We also have a few they stay out in the sandbox so he can dig there.
  • Cade loves to help.  He will always sweep, vacuum, clean bathrooms, weed the garden and mop with me.
  • He is very thoughtful.  When he is in a good mood, he loves to read stories to Cami and share toys with her.  He always makes sure to get one for her too.
  • He is talking better and better.  A few things he says. . . everynone, t instead of c (I tan, betause, Tami, tandy), adds -ed to past tense words (where you putted it, what you saided, I bringed it)
  • He loves to say things like "want to hear something crazy mommy?"  "What the monkey?"  "That's crazy"
  • One of his favorite treats are otter pops.  We eat them pretty much everyday.  Cade likes to get them out of the freezer for everyone, cut the tops off and ask which color we want.  He also likes to go outside and eat them on the grass.
  • Cade likes to do silly tricks like jump backwards, put his hands on the floor and a foot in the air, somersaults etc.  Cami likes to copy.
  • Cade had a great time helping Scott move.  I wasn't there and am not sure what he did, but I do know that he put his mower on Scott's moving truck and it got moved too.
  • He starts a playgroup/preschool next week and a music group for kids this week.  He loves going to nursery and is so happy each Sunday to see his friends and teachers.
  • He is pretty much done taking naps and has been sleeping better at night without the nap.  Some evenings get long, but he goes to bed between 6:45 and 7 and wakes us between 6 and 6:30.
  • He has a great imagination and is always playing and asking questions and trying to figure stuff out.
  • He knows the days of the week and understands the order.  He gets left and right correct often and knows where we are going in the car.  Pretty smart guy.
We love our Cadester.  He is a sweet boy and likes to please.  He is usually really happy.  He loves hugs from Mom

and loves to wrestle and jump on his Daddy.

Splash Park!

We have a splash park about a mile from our house and have had some fun there.  Cade loves it and jumps right in and gets soaked immediately.  He will stand under the buckets and wait for them to dump and try to get the fountains to spray and then stand in the middle of them.  Cami is a little bit shyer.  She likes to play with the water splashing off the slide or touch a few of the smaller streams.  I usually end up getting sprayed a bit too, and it feels good to cool off!

March update for Cade

  • We were having teriyaki chicken for dinner one night and I picked up some fortune cookies to end with.  Kirk and I both read our papers and then Cade pulled his out.  He said "it says. . . Happy birthday Cade!"
  • He is pretty excited about birthdays right now because we had Kirk and Cami so close.  He knows his birthday is August 21st, that Scott is in April, Grandma Smith is in  May, Lindsey is in June, and Cami is in March.  If I tell him my birthday is in December, he says "like Kara." or Kirk is in February he says "like Luke."
  • I was making Kirk's PB&J for lunch and Cade was helping me.  About half of the time I make him a snack while I make Kirk's lunch and he "takes it to work" later.  This time I made him a sandwich.  I had the raspberry jam out but he told me he wanted the "new jam." (apricot).  I tried to convince him to just use raspberry because it was already out and said "don't you want to be like Daddy?"  He just said "No, I want to be like me!"
  • I showed Cade how to roll on hill near our house.  It sure is fun to listen to a kid giggling while doing something like that.

  • Cade sings all of the time.  He will go put his baby to bed and sing her a song and cover her up.  He requests songs and right now his favorites are the Santa song, Baa Baa black sheep and Down Down Baby.
  • We moved Cade to a twin sized bed.  I was scared to death to do it.  We have several trips/family visits coming up over the next few months and I wanted a few weeks of solid, normal home time when we did the switch.  Besides, Cami was still sleeping in a pack-n-play.  We put the mattress for his bed on the floor so he wouldn't have any problems if he rolled off.  He has really done well with it too.  Every night so far (it's been 6) he has stayed in bed when we put him there.  The first day he never took a nap, even though we tried, but he has since.  He has gotten up early (like 4:30-5) the last 2 mornings, thinking it was time to get up, but I took him back up both times and he went back to sleep.  I am very relieved (so far.) I have really been dreading this change and I am glad it's been smooth so far.
  • I wanted to go shopping at Kohls last Saturday and decided to leave Cami home and take Cade.  We had a lot of fun.  He gave me advice on which purse to buy.  Then, he tried on all the shoes I did and walked around with them, admiring his feet in the mirror.  I had fun hanging out with him and not having to think about Cami too.
  • Sometimes Cade will get himself dressed.  Often when he does this, he puts his legs in the same pant hole.  The first time this happened, he said "look, Mommy.  It's like you at church day!"

  • He is getting more independent.  He wants to know what will happen when he does something and I tell him not to.  Like spraying water in the house, jumping on the couch, throwing things etc.  If I tell him to stop and he doesn't want to, he will do it again and just laugh while looking at me.  What a stinker!  I've started doing short time-outs in my room or just taking his squirt bottle away.
  • Cade has been writing letters with sidewalk chalk in the back yard.  He is pretty good with F and also likes to do T, E, M and O.  He tries a few more but can't do them yet.
  • Cade got a letter from Grandpa Morris in the mail.  He was so excited.  We came inside from the mailbox and read it and he was just beaming the whole time. When I finished he said "Read it again Mommy!" So we did.  We sent Grandpa a letter back.
  • vacuuming:  Still loves it.  If Kirk asked Cade what we did today his first response is either "we had vacuum day Daddy!" or "no we vacuum today."
  • Instead of saying you Cade says "woo"
  • We got a book about tractors and trucks from the library.  Cade has since learned the names of almost every vehicle in the book.  He also knows that Grandpa used to drive a combine and that a hay baler makes food for the animals.  I think he remembers everything you tell him!  He really does have a good memory and soaks up stuff.

That's my guy--in a nutshell!  He loves his sister and helps her all the time and shares food with her.  He loves nursery and playing with friends.  He loves blue and wants to go to the Blue Zoo (?) when it's' summer.  He loves his grandparents and his dad too.  We really got lucky with this one!

Cade things I forgot. . .

Just a couple more I should have put on Cade's list.

  • Cade is always asking me what is in different foods.  I tell him and then he adds, and salt to everything.
    • Mommy, what's in pancakes?  "Pancake mix and water."  and salt.
    • What's in this orange? (he says it o-nor-ange) "just oranges." and salt.
    • What's in ketchup?  "tomatoes, sugar and vinegar"  and salt.
  • When Cade says bulldozer, he's not sure when to stop and it sounds something like buldozererer.

Cade--2 1/2 years old

Mr. Cadster is now officially 2 1/2!  Yay!  He is really growing up.  He talks and moves non-stop unless he is sleeping.  Here are some things he loves to do and funny stories too.
  • Kirk was giving Cade a haircut and Cade started asking for the vacuum to clean up the hair.  When I started cutting Kirk's hair, we sent Cade out to get the vacuum and bring it in the bathroom.  He was so excited he could hardly hold still.  He brought the vacuum in and started getting the hose off the back.  Then he plugged it in and VVRROOM!  the vacuum turned on.  The power switch had already been flipped so none of us were expecting it to turn on.  Cade ran out of the room as fast as I have ever seen him move and started screaming.  I went and grabbed him and gave him hugs to calm him down.  He was shaking because the noise had scared him so bad.  Luckily (or maybe unluckily) this has not phased his fascination with vacuums.  Kirk and I thought it was pretty funny.
  • Cade loves to sing.  He will often sing with me when I am putting him to bed or he sings quietly to himself throughout the day.  It is pretty cute.
Making pancakes

  • Cade used to really hate nursery.  The crying has slowly gone away.  For a while he would start crying as soon as the closing prayer ended in sacrament meeting.  One week, right after the prayer he yelled "Class time" and took off running.  I was pretty excited too and followed him to class.  He hasn't had any problems since then and loves his class and his teachers.  He has learned "do as I'm doing," "Jesus wants me for  a sunbeam," and "ring around the rosy" all in his class and comes home singing them.  He said they have family night in his class and talk about Jesus.  He loves the bubbles and play dough.  He also has a baby crush on a girl named Ella.  The teachers say he follows her around.  Last week in the car coming home he told us they played Ring around the Rosy and he got to hold Ella's hand.  We are in trouble!
  • We have been having activity days at my house recently in the evenings.  I am able to put Cami to bed before it starts and Cade stays up and hangs out.  He loves the girls (and the girls love him.)  The girls always ask Cade to give them hugs.
Snack time--Who cares that we ate breakfast 15 minutes ago!

  • One day after naptime, we didn't have much going on.  Cade told me that we needed to go to Walmart and see the vacuums.  I needed a few things anyway, so we went and he loved it.
  • We made valentines for grandparents and cousins.  Cade made 6 of them, no problem.  He loves drawing with markers and doing stickers.
  • Melissa got a special valentine.  It was a piece of blue paper with no drawing or stickers on it.  I don't know why Cade chose that paper but in his mind it was for Melissa.  I tried to put it away and he said "no mommy.  That Melissa valentine."
  • He is getting a lot more social.  He actually plays with friends when we see them, instead of just by them.  He asks if certain people will be at playgroup or at the library.  We left the kiddos with a friend when Kirk and I went out and Cade did really well.  Cami screamed, but that is a different story.
  • Cade likes to brush his hair once in a while.  He goes in the bathroom and gets his brush really wet and brushes through his hair.  When he is done, there is water dripping down his face.  Once I dried it off with a towel and he told me he likes the water there and went and got more.  Whatever.
  • One of Cade's jobs is to clear his plate after every meal.  He knows it too.  He is not supposed to play with toys until he clears his plate.  One night after dinner Cade was the last one to leave the table.  I was in the living room and he came in and said "I play toys, mommy?" I said sure, go play and he said "I no take plate to sink, Mommy."  He thought he was pretty funny tricking me.  So I told him to clear his plate and then he could play and he did.
  • Cade's latest phrase is to tell me something ridiculous and then say "I just teasing, Mommy."
  • Pretty much every sentence Cade says ends in Mommy.
  • Instead of saying unplug it, Cade says Plug it out.
  • Cade loves stories!  He will sit and listen to stories for as long as Kirk or I will read, I think our record is 45 minutes.  His favorites include Go Dog go! (He can "read" it himself), the Neighbor book, Just a Mess, and the tractor book.
helping mom clean

  • We stopped for lunch at Costco one day.  In the car on the way, Cade told me something like "Cami drop food on floor, make mess, need to vacuum it up.  Costco have vacuum?"
  • Cade needed to use the bathroom one day.  Usually he goes in the laundry room on the main level.  This time he decided he wanted to use the toilet upstairs so he pulled his pants and underwear down and started to walk up the stairs (which is tricky if you have pants around your ankles.)  I helped him get his pants up and go up stairs.
  • Cade likes to take Cami's bottle upstairs for me at night.  He says "I take anni bottle upstairs, mommy.  I come right back down play daddy."
  • Cade is obsessed with Santa and Frosty still.  He asks me where they live, if they go to church, if they have a vacuum, if they like stories, if they like to eat pizza etc.  We have created a little world for them.  Cade would like to go visit, but I told him it was too far away.
  • We got a bunch of snow earlier this month.  Our cul-de-sac didn't get plowed and the garbage truck came the next day and got stuck.  They guy couldn't get it our for over an hour.  A tractor came and ended up shoveling our road.  Cade keeps talking about the garbage truck got stuck and the tractor came.  Cade loves garbage day and we listen every Monday for the truck to come so we can run outside and wave to the guy.  He always waves back too.
  • Cami has started walking here and there.  Cade loves to hold her hands and help her or have her walk to him.  He doesn't like it when she is done and wants to crawl and they usually both end up crying.

  • Cade has started spotting letters everywhere.  It is fun to see him learning so much.  He is starting to put together sounds too.  We were talking about the letter A like ant and animal and he said A-A-Anni (which is what he calls Cami).  I was impressed.  He has done it a few other times too.
  • With Kirk's and Cami's birthdays so close, Cade is very excited about birthdays.  He knows that we need balloons, a treat and presents for birthdays.  He keeps asking me when everyone's birthdays are and he knows his is in August on the twenty-two (actually it is the 21st, but he gets is mixed up every time.)  He also knows that Scott's birthday is in April and Marley's and Cami's are in March.
  • Cade like to do things on his own and if I help him too much he will re do it. I helped him up on a stool and he said "I do it." and climbed down and back up again.  He is getting pretty independent.
Finger painting

Wow.  That was a lot.  We love Cade.  He loves vacuums, tractors, the Mater Movie, being outside, his family and helping Mommy with everything.

P.S. if you are still reading, you should know that this is my 200th post!

Valentine's day with Cade

We've been celebrating Valentine's day all month!  My friend Amy does an activity with her kids each day of February leading up to Valentine's day and I tried to do that with Cade this year.  I didn't get too many pictures, but here is what we did--not in order:
1.  Set up hanging hearts, one for each person that we loved (until we ran out of hearts) Cade made sure that we had one for Frosty and Santa.
2.  Made valentine's for Cade's grandparents
3.  Finger painting
4.  Make red velvet sandwich cookies
5.  Play with heart shaped marshmallows
6.  Make rice krispie treats with leftover marshmallows
7.  Take treats to neighbors
8.  Take a picture of Cade and Cami to put with valentines and get it printed
9.  Decorate sugar cookies with friends
10.  put up window stickers
11.  Eat a yummy dinner (red jello, fajitas with red peppers, raspberry cheesecake) with fun decorations and open a valentine's present (I got Cade 2 books one called Mater and one called Lightning McQueen.)

We had fun and he knows that hearts mean love and that he loves Grandma and Grandpa!  He was very excited to get my parent's valentine in the mail and wanted to hang it up high where Cami couldn't get it.

This is the picture we sent grandparents.  I thought it would be cute to get them sitting together and holding a heart or something.  Yeah right!  Cami had a headband on, here it is in her hands.  They love playing on the stairs and this picture turned out really cute.

Cade right now

No pictures yet. . . Cami is awake in bed and all I got was the text.  I'll post pictures soon!
  • We were eating dinner the other night and I was talking about how I heard that bamboo cutting boards are good and last a long time.  Nothing too important.  Cade said "bamboo in neighbor book, Mommy."  It's true.  We have a Berenstein Bears book about neighbors and they plant a bamboo fence.  Crazy he made the connection though.
  • Cade got some golf clubs for Christmas.  So now he has to go golfing.  He gets out his clubs, then he has to put on his shoes and jacket, find his hat and get some water and a snack.  Once he is all ready, he hits the ball once or twice and then takes a break and drinks his water and eats.  He wants to be just like Kirk, getting all the stuff ready.  He calls it "I go bolfing Mommy."
  • Cade often watches a movie in the morning while I shower.  We have 4 movies:  Leapfrog Numberland, Leapfrog Letter Factory, Raffi and Cars.  When I ask Cade what he wants to watch, he says "I pick one." which means he wants me to get all the cases down, he studies them for a bit and the chooses one.  Usually it is the same movie 4 days in a row and he will then tell me if it is already in the DVD player or not.
  • Cade is in love with our iPod touch.  He likes to play music on it and calls it his iPhone.  He will pick a song and listen for about 10 seconds and then shuffle it to a new song.  He tells me that he likes it loud.
  • Cade hung up his jacket and hat in on his hooks in the laundry room.  The jacket was crooked and the hat inside out, but he was excited.  He came running out and said "Mommy see, it looks nice."
  • Cade likes to go to Sportsman's Warehouse with Kirk.  His favorite aisle has about a hundred plastic bottles full of plastic beads used to make lures and bobbers.  He likes to pull out each bottle and look at the beads.
  • Cade told me that Cami had cute pants on.
  • Cade can put his own shoes on now.  He can also get his jammies and night time diaper off by himself (he's been doing that for a while) and get his pants on.
  • We saw the mower truck last week.  They always park in front of our house.  We were already outside and Cade was pushing his lawnmower around.  He got so excited to see the truck.  The guys weren't mowing the grass (it is January) but they were just pulling weeds or something.  Cade waved to them and yelled "Hi mower guys!" because that is what we call them.  He kept telling me "I help mower guys."  He was so excited that they were there.  We kept listening for the mowers and the blowers, but they never used them.
  • Cade has an ABC toy that he calls his computer.  It sings songs and tells you letters when you push the buttons.  He likes to go do his "work" on the computer.  Usually this requires a snack and the iPod music as well.
  • Cade takes very good care of Cami.  He likes to lay next to her, hold her bottle, get her drinks and toys and tries to help her walk.  He does not like it when she comes close to any toy that he is using and starts yelling "Ani ani" as she comes closer.
  • He is a very nice, helpful guy.  We love having Cade in our family.  He's definitely not perfect and has breakdowns almost daily, but he is a good kid.

Cade update

  • Cade loves to sing and dance.  We have a Christmas reindeer that plays jingle bells and he dances and sings and runs around.  He has started to sing with us and repeat words during the song.
  • One day I was feeding Cami a bottle and couldn't stop when Cade said "potty Mommy!"  I told him to go in the bathroom and pull his pants down.  He ended up going all by himself and even washed his hands and flushed the toilet.  He still wears diapers at nights and wets during naps about half of the time, but when he is awake, he is great.
  • Cade is getting more stubborn.  He likes to say no and figure out how long I will let him get away with it.  Typical 2-year old, I guess, but I'm still getting used to it.
  • Cade has loved having Connor here the last few weeks.  One night Cade wouldn't let me brush his teeth so I told him Connor would do a funny dance after I brushed them.  So he let me and Connor did and now Connor dances with Cade after every teeth brushing!
  • Cade has had a lot of fun shooting hoops with his dad and Connor.  Every once in a while he yells "on fire!" just like Kirk does.
  • Some of Cade's favorite phrases include "so happy," "umm yeah," and "no Cami get it."
  • We were watching the Christmas devotional and the choir was singing a church, slow song.  Cade started running around clapping his hands and yelling "Cade love this song"
  • Cade and I saw a life-size Santa at Lowes one day.  As we walked up to it, Santa started singing and dancing.  It scared Cade pretty good--he started crying.  But, since that day, he has recognized Santa everywhere we see him.  He has loved watching the classic Santa Clause is Coming to Town and Frosty the Snowman this month.
  • Cade loves to see tractors, Christmas lights, and lawn mowers.
  • We went to a trampoline place and had a blast!  Cade loved jumping and falling and running into the foam pit.

  • He still is fascinated by the garbage truck.  It comes each week between 8:30 and 9 on Monday mornings and we listen really hard until we hear it and then we run out and watch it pick up the garbage on our street.
  • Cade takes good care of his sister.  When she cries he runs and gets her a toy, usually the yellow ball.  He will bring a box of trucks into the bathroom when I am doing my hair or getting ready so Cami can play.  He loves to help feed Cami too.  I can put some cut up food or cheerios on the table and Cade will give them to Cami a few at a time.  I am starting to teach Cami to sign "more" too so Cade will ask Cami if she wants more and do the sign to here.  It is so cute.

  • Cade is still a big helper.  One day after putting Cami down for a nap I asked him if he wanted to clean the bathroom, do the dishes or build a road.  He yelled "Clean bathroom right now!"  Ok.  Sounds good to me.

  • Cade loves to wave to Kirk in the mornings and will always "Get Daddy juice." (Kirk's Gatorade."  We have a box of it in the garage and Cade gets one every morning for Kirk to take.  I'm not sure how many have piled up in the car :)
  • Cade always sits on the counter while I make Kirk's lunch and lately he has wanted his own lunch too.  So I get him a bag with a few things in it.  Later, he will tell me he is going to work and take his lunch and go eat it.  One day, his work was in my closet (which is basically right off our dining room).  He took his chair in there, then drove his car in there and read books and ate his food.

  • We made some treats and took them around to our neighbors for Christmas and Cade thought it was so fun to do it.  He liked to carry the treat and give it to the person himself.
  • He is getting to be a much better talker.  He is starting to use the words I and me instead of always talking in the 3rd person.
  • He recognizes letters all over the place and likes to sing the ABC song.  (which he learned from a toy)
  • Cade loves to have family night.  One day he found a spiral notebook.  We use the nursery manual for family night and it is also spiral bound.  Anyway, he "read" his book, then sang a short song, then folded his arms and said "amen" and then yelled "treat time!"  Yeah, he knows the important part of family night.
  • He is a pretty happy guy (except for when he lays on the floor crying or jumps up and down screaming because I told him no)
and we love having him around!
  • Ready for work--shoes on, waterbottle full

    Driving the mower truck

Using his leaf blower ( not sure where the had idea came from)

Cade update

  • Cade likes to crawl around on the floor with his head on the ground.  He call it his "vacuum head."  One day I was putting Cami down for a nap and he crawled into her room and ran into the wall.  He looked up a little dazed, then turned and kept crawling, right into the changing table.  Then he turned around and crawled out the door.  Silly boy.
  • Cami's favorite word is Ba-ba-ba-ba.  It doesn't mean anything, it's just what she says.  So it reminded me of an old Beach Boys song--Barbara Ann.  I started singing it and have played it for Cade now.  Last night we listened to it like 6 times in a row and danced around the family room.  Even Cami got into it.  I got a cute video of Cade and Cami both dancing.
  • When I put Cade to bed I remind him over and over to tell me if he has to go potty or poopies.  He usually waits until I've sung him a song or 2 and then says he has to go.  Whatever.  At least he 's going in the toilet and not bed.  One day he was playing with his farm animals and he wanted to put the horse to bed.  He picked it up and cradled it and sang "child of God" then said "night-night" then "poopies." and had the horse go before going to bed.
  • Cade imitates voices.  Whenever he calls something big he always refers to Daddy and uses a deep voice and says it's a "big Daddy pancake" (or whatever).  If it is little, he says "little Cami pancake" in a high voice.
  • Cade has really picked up on singing this month.  His favorite songs are Baby Beluga and There was a man lived in the moon.  He can also sing most of "I belong to the church of Jesus Christ."  Sometimes he'll just starts singing a song that I didn't realize he knew.  The other day it was the ABC song and today it was "I'm so Glad when Daddy comes home."
  • Cade loves to count to 10 (and sometimes 11).  He likes to jump and count at the same time.
  • When he hits Cami accidentally he gives her a kiss and a hug and says "Sorry Ani."  So sweet.
  • One day I had to go get something upstairs really fast and didn't want to take Cami with me.  I asked Cade to take care of her.  When I came back down, he had gotten out the bucket of balls we have and was showing them to her.  She really likes to play with the balls.
  • We were at my aunt's house making applesauce and ended up staying to process the jars while she ran an errand.  I took something out to the car and when I came back, the door was locked, with only Cade and Cami in the house.  I didn't realize that the handle on the door was locked when I left.  Luckily I had my phone on me, but Cade saw me through the window on the door.  I called to him and he came over and I told him through the door to unlock it and twist the lock.  Somehow he figured it out and I was able to get in.  I was a bit scared though!  When my aunt came back, she showed me where their key is hidden, in case I ever need to break into the house.
  • Cade loves golfing.  He gets large wooden spoons from the kitchen and we hit balls around the living room.  We went to the driving range as a family yesterday and Cade had a great time hitting with Kirk's clubs.  No pictures, sorry.
  • Cade also loves doing the dishes.  He puts his stool up right next to the sink and plays with a pan or a spoon or a measuring cup in the water.  Sometimes I enjoy this and sometimes I would prefer to just do them by myself.  He sure loves to help though.
  • I don't really have any pictures from this month!  I'll repent and take a bunch in the next couple of weeks.

Big Brother, Little Sister

The other day Cami was getting her diaper changed and crying.  Cade came and laid down by her and said "ok, Cami.  Cade right here."  and patted her hand

Cami was standing up next to a bar stool and Cade wanted to play with her so he grabbed a blanket and held it up over his face.  He dropped the blanket and said "boo!" and Cami laughed and loved it.

Cami gets so excited whenever she sees Cade.  If she is in the room when I put him to bed, she is constantly wiggling and trying to get into his bed.

Cade loves to run upstairs and help me get Cami out of bed.

Cade likes to make sure that Cami has enough food.  He breaks off "little baby Cami" pieces of his food at meals and tries to give them to her.

One day I was doing my hair and brought a box of trucks in for Cami to play with.  Later that day, I brought Cami into the bathroom with me while I used the toilet.  Cade ran into the room with the same box of trucks and dumped them out so Cami wouldn't get bored.

Cami likes to destroy Cade's train track.  Cade likes to make an extra little road that Cami can have and he also makes sure to give her toys of her own while he builds the track.

Hopefully they still like each other in 10-15 years.

Cade stories: sleeping and sucking

Cade found his feet and loves to pull his socks off

Cade likes to suck on everything he can get his hands on.  He also love to suck on the carpet.  I think this is totally discusting and try to not let him do it.  Ususally I put him on a blanket when he is on the floor because I know how clean the blankets are.  Anyway, the other day I put a burp cloth under Cade because I didn't have a blanket handy.  Pretty soon, he had pulled the burp cloth out of the way and was sucking on the carpet.  So I put it back underneath him.  He pushed himself over to the edge of the burp cloth and started sucking again on the carpet.  I moved the burp cloth again and he did the same thing.  So I pulled out a blanket and put him on that.  I left the room and came back a minute later.  He moved the blanket so his hands were on the carpet again.  So, I flipped him over on his back.  No more carpet :)

Playing with Daddy

We used to swaddle Cade when he went to bed.  He is too strong for the swaddle now and breaks out of it quickly.  The other day, I was having a hard time getting him to sleep and when I went in to check on him, I decided to swaddle him again to see if it would help.  2 seconds later Cade burst his arms out and gave me a big smile as if to say "ha, ha, Mom.  I don't want to be swaddled!"

I usually cover Cade with a blanket when I put him to bed too.  He moves the blanket around a bit and sucks on the edges as he is falling asleep.  The last couple of weeks though, he has been moving the blanket over his face and falling asleep under it.

Cade woke up the other night at 9:00 p.m., which is really unusual.  Sometimes he cries out in his sleep, but after he had been crying for about 10 minutes, I thought I should go check him.  He had moved in his sleep and must have bumped his head because his face was smashed up against the side of the crib.  Don't worry, no bumpers in there, but I bet it scared him pretty good.  He has since repeated this a few times.  Maybe someday he will learn to fix it on his own.
