Splash Park!

We have a splash park about a mile from our house and have had some fun there.  Cade loves it and jumps right in and gets soaked immediately.  He will stand under the buckets and wait for them to dump and try to get the fountains to spray and then stand in the middle of them.  Cami is a little bit shyer.  She likes to play with the water splashing off the slide or touch a few of the smaller streams.  I usually end up getting sprayed a bit too, and it feels good to cool off!

Cami at 13 months

  • Cami is truly growing up.  She walks everywhere now and can even toddle with shoes on in the grass!  She loves to pick up things and carry them around.  Then she drops it when she finds something better, leaving a trail all over.  Some of her favorites are shoes and balls.
  • Cami loves to get her shoes and carry them over to me.  She sits down and tries to put them on.  She knows that shoes means that she gets to go outside.
  • Cami is pretty shy.  If someone says hi to her she runs back to me and smiles at them.  She does not like me to leave her.  Sometimes she is even upset when I leave her with Kirk.
  • One night Cami was up later than Cade.  Kirk and I were playing with her and she kept falling on the floor and laughing if we got close to her.  She is so cute!
  • Cami likes to do the actions for Wheels on the Bus.  She also bounces up and down when Cade sings "bumping up and down in my little red wagon" and "Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam." She likes to hold hands with Cade and play "Ring around the Rosy" and falls down really early.
  • Cami loves to eat oranges.  She will eat a whole orange by herself.  She gets mad if I try to give her something else.  Today I had her orange pieces all cut and in a bowl on the table.  I was rinsing her tray off and she grabbed the bowl and sat down and started eating them.
  • Cami loves oranges but will eat anything I give her.  She also likes toast, strawberries and cucumbers.  She usually picks out fruits and veggies first on her tray and then finishes with the meat or bread-type food.
Loving a blue dum dum from the bank

  • Cami is drinking whole milk now instead of formula.  She still gets her 3 bottles a day.
  • Cami has recently started climbing up to the second stair and looking out the window by our front door.  She was leaning on the window sill the other day and fell, crashing head first into the tile.  She got a good bruise on her head.
  • I bought Cami some new church shoes.  We were a the mall and she was in the stroller.  When I put a pair of shoes on her feet she would wiggle it around and look at her shoes.  She got mad whenever I took them off.  If I let her hold shoes, she tried to put them on again.  She is definitely a girl!  I ended up buying a pair another day and when she saw them at home she was so excited and wanted to wear them.  If we asked her about her new shoes she stopped and grabbed them with a big smile.
  • We were sitting by another baby in church and Cami was playing with stuff from their bag.  Another lady put a necklace on Cami and she sat up and admired her necklace and was so proud of herself.
Talking to Grandma and Grandpa on Skype

So proud because she climbed up on the box by herself!

  • Cami does the signs for milk, eat, more and waves night-night and bye bye, and blows kisses.  If you ask her "are you going nuts?" she wiggles and kicks really hard.
  • She is starting to imitate noises.  She will copy the way that Cade yells.  She makes a vroom noise for vacuums and cars/trucks when she sees them in a picture or plays with them.
  • We were playing outside and Cami had her little stroller.  She was pushing it around and gathering rocks in it.  I thought this may be a trait of her Grandpa Morris coming through.
  • We moved Cami out of the pack-n-play and into a crib this month too.  She hardly noticed.  She is still taking 2 naps, but I don't think it will last much longer.  Most days she wakes up around 6:30, naps from 9:30-10:30 or 11, and again from about 1:30-3:00 then goes to bed around 7:15.  She has been having a harder time falling asleep at bedtime and for her second nap lately though, so I think she is changing.
Wearing pants on your head is fun to do!

Cami is One!

Our cute little girl made it to 1 on March 3!  We had a party for her on March 1.  We invited Scott and Kara.  My parents came via Skype and Kirk's dad and Connor came via facetime.  Love it!  Cami got to open presents first.  She got a new doll stroller, some books and some stacking bowls.  Scott and Kara gave her a cute little summer outfit too.  She had fun ripping the paper and pulling stuff out of bags.

Then we sang to Cami and gave her a cake.  I made mini cupcakes and built a little tower for her then covered it with frosting.  She picked at the frosting for a bit.  Then I gave her a cupcake and she smashed it in her hands.  She may have taken a bite or two, but didn't really eat much, which is surprising for her.

I made her a birthday sign too and she was so excited to see it in the morning.  For the next few days when we said birthday, she would point to the sign and grunt.  I hung it up in her bedroom now and she still likes seeing it.  I think it is funny what they get excited about.

We had a fun day on her birthday too.  We went to playgroup in the morning.  Then I let Cami take a long bath after her nap and eat an orange for her snack.  We had noodles and sauce for dinner and she loved that too.

I had fun taking her outside a couple of times this week to get some pictures too and she actually cooperated.

Fun things about Cami
  • Cami loves to eat.  She is usually the last one eating at meals.  She will eat anything we put in front of her, but she still has some favorites.  A couple of days ago, she didn't want her oatmeal but was grunting and pointing to Kirk's toast.  She ended up eating a whole piece of toast and loved it.  Some of her favorite foods are applesauce, oranges, bananas, cheese and green veggies.  She really will eat anything though.  Awesome.  She can drink water out of  a cup if you just give her a few drops.  She is still on bottles, 3 times a day 4-6 ounces each.
  • Cami is a great sleeper too.  She takes a morning nap, usually 1-1.5 hr around 9:30.  She goes down again around 1:30 for another 1.5-2 hours.  Bedtime is 7 and she generally wakes up around 6:30.  It is really fun to put her to bed.  She takes her binky and then lays on your shoulder and gives you a hug while you sing a couple of songs.  It is really fun to snuggle with a baby.
  • Cami started walking this week!  Last Saturday, March 1, she was taking about 3 steps at a time and then crawling.  Today, March 8, she will walk across the room and around the couch.  if she falls, she stands up and walks again.  She loves to push her stroller around.  When it crashes into something she just picks it up and keeps going.  A few weeks before she started taking steps, she would crawl over to the fireplace and stand up on her own.  We would cheer and Cade would yell "Cami standing up!" and she was so proud of herself.
  • Before walking on her own, Cami loved pushing our blue toy car around.  She would go back and forth across the room.  She even had fun pushing Cade on it.
  • Cade had a lot of fun holding Cami's hand and helping her walk.  Sometimes she liked this and sometimes she didn't.  One time, he was trying to help her and they both started:  Cami because she wanted to crawl and Cade because she didn't want to walk with him.
  •
  • Communication:  Cami is starting to imitate noises like clicking tongue, HHH, da da da, etc.  She says num sometimes when she eats.  (she likes to put a bite in her mouth really fast and say num and look at me.  It is cute.)  She will sign eat and more and sometimes milk and all done.  She loves to blow kisses and wave good bye or good night.  She points to things she wants and definitely cries when she doesn't get her way.
  • We went outside to the "trails" which is a small park by our house.  Cami and I walked over the bridge about a thousand times.  As soon as she crossed it, she would turn around and go back.  She can't walk outside in her shoes yet, so I was holding her hand the whole time.  She loves being outside!
  • Cami loves clothes.  She will find some in Cade's dresser or on the floor and carry them all over the house.  I call them her treasures.
  • Cami copies everything Cade does.  One day he was helping me clean the kitchen.  Cami was playing in a cupboard and found a sponge and started scrubbing too!
  • Cami is very cautious around people.  If we are not at home and I leave the room, she flips out.  She definitely prefers Mom over Dad too, but usually Kirk is ok.  If she is hungry she definitely wants Mom and will cry and fuss unless I am holding her until she gets food.  Makes it a little hard to get the food ready.
  • Cami knows where her head, mouth, hair, tummy and feet are.  Sometimes she gets ears.
  • Cami gets excited at Walmart when we visit the vacuum aisle.  She points and shows us everything.
  • Cami is definitely different than Cade.  If I don't hold her when she wants it, she will collapse on the floor and cry.  If I don't give her a toy or take something away she thinks she should have, she cries too.  She is a little dramatic!
  • We had a big empty box for a while and Cami loved it.  Cade wasn't too thrilled and Cami just wanted someone to sit in the box with her.

11 month old Cami

  • Cami has made it to 11 months.  I can't imagine life without her.  It is weird to think that my sister and I are 2 1/2 years apart and if we had followed that same pattern, Cami would be born next month!  We love our Cami and I am glad that we have her, even if life is more crazy that way.
  • Cami cut 2 teeth on the bottom.  The first few days after they came through, she kept putting her finger in her mouth and feeling them.
  • Cami is getting taller. Her clothes that fit great a month ago are all getting tighter.
  • She has a ton of energy.  She crawls all over and wants to get everything she sees.  She loves to give big cheesy smiles.
  • She likes to crawl away and go up the stairs.  If she knows that you see her, she crawls really fast so you can't get her.
  • One of Cami's favorite things to do is pull all of the books off the shelf.  She likes to sit and look at them too.  One that she picks a lot is Brown Bear.
  • Cami loves stuffed animals.  She gives them lots of hugs and kisses.
  • Cami has learned to blow kisses, she waves bye-bye and night-night.  She rubs her hands together whenever I put on lotion.  She knows where her mouth is, can clap her hands and likes to wave her arms around when she hears music.  She no longer signs all done or more, even though she did a month ago.  She also folds her hands for prayers.
  • Cami loves bathtime.  She starts screaming when I turn the water on and tries to climb in the tub.  While the water is running she plays with it and sometimes tries to drink it, but then she just gets a mouthful of water.  Crazy girl.  I still bathe Cade and Cami together and she just goes after any toy she wants and climbs over Cade to get it.  He doesn't like that very much.
  • Cami also loves to eat.  She eats everything that we do and yells if we don't give her the right thing or if it isn't fast enough.  She likes to drink water out of a regular cup, I give her just enough to cover the bottom of the cup, and she thinks it is great!  She still gets a 6 oz bottle 3-4 times a day.
  • We recently gave Cami her own toothbrush.  She loves that too!  We were in the living room one day and I told Cami it was time to brush her teeth and she crawled into the bathroom as fast as she could.
  • She is still a pretty good sleeper.  She sleeps most nights 7-7.  She takes a nap in the morning around 9:30 for about an hour and another nap in the afternoon for about 2 hours. She is still sleeping in the pack-n-play as I have not had enough courage to move Cade out of his crib yet.
  • Cami loves to push chairs around our kitchen while walking.  She also will walk while pushing Cade's car and has just started to let go a bit when she is standing up on something.  Cade started walking 3 days before his birthday and Cami may be about the same time.
  • Yesterday we were watching Cade's Numberland movie.  Cami gets really excited when the TV is on.  She crawled over to Kirk and sat on his lap and kept saying oooh! and pointing to the TV.  She wanted to make sure he knew what was going on.  Today Kirk came home from a meeting and Cami got so excited.  She started yelling and smiling and pointing to him until he came over and gave her a big hug.  She really likes her daddy.

Cami--10 Months

My little girl is getting to be a big baby!  It is hard to imagine life without her.  She is very friendly and makes everyone smile.

Physical changes:  Cami still has no teeth, but I think they are getting close.  She weighs 20 pounds now (50th percentile) and is 30 inches long (95th).  She loves to climb stairs and can now go backwards down them.  She loves to hold hands and walk around or push things and walk with them.

Eating:  Cami eats as much as Cade.  She still has 4 6-oz bottles a day.  She loves to sit in her high chair and shove food in her mouth as fast as possible.  She had a lot of fun while we were staying with Kirk's parents.  She would eat a bite or two and then give the dog some food and then eat some more.  She loves to torture the dog and climb all over him and pull his hair.  I think he puts up with it because of the food.

Sleeping:  Cami wakes up around 6:30 in the morning, naps around 9 for 1-1.5 hours and then again from about 1:30 to 3:30, then goes to bed by 7.  She is an excellent sleeper at night.  She likes to wave night-night to people.  I give her the binky in her room and sing a primary song or two and she starts reaching for her bed.  Yay!

Intellectual:  Cami has gotten so much smarter in the last month.  She can do the sign for "all done" and started doing "more" yesterday.  She loves to find a new toy or something cool and bring it over to me and shove it in my face until I tell her how neat it is.  When she is tired, hungry or poopy, she crawls over and climbs on my legs until I help her.  Cami is understanding words like "turn around" (on the stairs), "put it in your mouth" ( at the table) and "go get it."  When you ask her where someone is, she turns and looks at them.
Cami is very friendly and will walk down the bench at church or play with the person behind us.  Cade was way to shy for that.  She still loves her momma very much, but will smile and say hi to anyone.

Cami--9 months!

It seems that each 3 months is kind of a milestone.  9 months is no exception.  Cami has changed a lot since 6 months.  We were excited that she was sitting up on her own and starting to pull herself forward.  Now she crawls all over, pulls herself up on furniture and is starting to cruise along the couch and push chairs around the room.  At 6 months she was just starting solid foods and now she eats everything we eat and will eat until I quit giving her food.
  • Cami loves to crawl into the bathroom, pull herself up on the toilet and suck on the rim.  GROSS!  We keep our toilets wiped down with Lysol wipes and keep the doors shut!
  • She also loves to climb up on the door of the dishwasher and play with the silverware.
  • Cami eats everything she sees.  Her latest favorite is to put a toy in her mouth and crawl around with it there.  She also loves the taste of metal.  The binky strap we have has a metal fastener on one end and she sucks on that all the time.
  • She loves to crawl up on our fireplace step and sit there.
  • She loves to crawl up the stairs too.  If I notice it is kind of quiet and I haven't seen Cami in about 15 seconds, I go to the stairs.  I tell her "Cami, I'm gonna get you" and she laughs and tries to climb up really fast to get away.
  • Cami is getting much better at sleeping.  I finally decided to get her on a 2 nap schedule.  The first week we were 2/5 days but now we're at 9/10 days.  She wakes up between 6:30 and 7.  Her first nap is at 9 and she sleeps about 45 min.  Her second nap is at 1 and she sleeps anywhere from 1.5-3.5 hours, usually around 2 hours.  Then it is bed time again between 6:30 and 7.  She goes to sleep great on her own and wakes up happy and ready to play.
  • Cami is really friendly.  She smiles at everyone and loves to laugh.  However, she hates it when other people try to hold her.  She will smile and then give me big hugs and want to stay in my arms.
  • Cami has started dancing.  We have a singing Christmas moose.  When Cade turns it on and runs around she waves her arms all over.
  • Cami found her voice too and yells a lot, especially when she is hungry.  Today I was eating a banana at breakfast and she had food on her tray but started yelling and staring at the banana.  I gave her some and she gobbled it right up!
  • Cami likes to read stories.  Her favorites are Brown Bear, I see a Monster, and a touch-and-feel animal book.
  • She is a happy, energetic, determined baby who gets into everything and eats everything she can see.  She is really curious and loves her mommy and her brother.  We love her too!

Big Brother, Little Sister

The other day Cami was getting her diaper changed and crying.  Cade came and laid down by her and said "ok, Cami.  Cade right here."  and patted her hand

Cami was standing up next to a bar stool and Cade wanted to play with her so he grabbed a blanket and held it up over his face.  He dropped the blanket and said "boo!" and Cami laughed and loved it.

Cami gets so excited whenever she sees Cade.  If she is in the room when I put him to bed, she is constantly wiggling and trying to get into his bed.

Cade loves to run upstairs and help me get Cami out of bed.

Cade likes to make sure that Cami has enough food.  He breaks off "little baby Cami" pieces of his food at meals and tries to give them to her.

One day I was doing my hair and brought a box of trucks in for Cami to play with.  Later that day, I brought Cami into the bathroom with me while I used the toilet.  Cade ran into the room with the same box of trucks and dumped them out so Cami wouldn't get bored.

Cami likes to destroy Cade's train track.  Cade likes to make an extra little road that Cami can have and he also makes sure to give her toys of her own while he builds the track.

Hopefully they still like each other in 10-15 years.

Crawling just like Cami

What's new with Cami

She's 8 months old!

  • Cami is a mover!  She still does her army crawl, but she is fast and goes where she wants to.  She loves to crawl under our bar stools and dining table.  If the bars under the chair legs get in the way, she just crawls over them.  She can move up and down on the step by our fireplace and tries to escape every time the back door is open.  She is just starting to climb up our stairs.  Yikes!

  • Cami eats lots of solid foods now.  Pretty much whatever we're eating--I just chop it up small.  She grabs handfuls and shoves them in her mouth.  Some of her favorites are potatoes, bread and pears.  She still loves cheerios too.
  • Cami LOVES Cade.  She gets excited whenever he comes into the room.  One of their favorite things to do together is play in Cade's bed.

  • Cami loves to stand and can pull herself up on things now.  She likes to hold our hands and walk around too.
  • She lets me know when she is tired, hungry or poopy.  She just comes to get me and keeps crawling on me or trying to get me to pick her up until I figure out what is going on.
  • She is a great sleeper at night.  She still goes down between 6:30 and 7 p.m. and wakes up between 6 and 6:30.  She is taking 3 naps but hopefully we'll get to 2 soon.  She is usually up 2.5-3 hours before her naps and between them.
  • Cami has started waving bye-bye.  So cute!
  • Cade loves to sing.  When we sing songs at the dinner table Cami flaps her arms around like she is dancing.
  • Cami doesn't want to miss out on anything.  She is very happy to play with toys and pretty much ignores us as long as we are in the room hanging out.
  • She loves watching towers get knocked over.
  • Cami was an elephant for Halloween.  She was super cute too.  We had fun trick-or-treating.  Kirk took Cami home when she got tired and Cade and Cheryl did a few more houses.
